| Spiral Tutorial Part 2 |
|
Ok we begin the second part of this tutorial with our kind of spiral, yet kind of glob like image. Now we will start to get rid of the part that looks ugly and keep the part that looks good.
Thus far by default our project has two layers, the background and the layer for the rounded rectangle morphed into a spiral like shape. Before we go any further we need to merge these two layers. Access the Layers panel pop up menu and select "Merge Visible" so that for now we will be working with a single layer.
Begin by selecting the Elliptical Marquee tool. Place the cross hairs of your cursor directly over the point where the horizontal and vertical guides intersect. While holding down on the Shift ALT keyboard combination, click your left mouse button and drag out from that center point. This will create an evenly shaped circle marquee over the image. Drag out to a point that is as large as you want the finished spiral to be without including the messy glob on the edges. With the marquee in a place you are happy with, select Edit > Copy or CTRL C keyboard combination. Then select File > New to create a new document. By default Photoshop will create this new document using the same dimensions as the data in the clipboard, the stuff you previously copied, therefore you can accept the default values for the new document.
With the new document created and selected, select Edit > Paste or CTRL V keyboard combination. Your new image should look similar now to the one above, and now we have a spiral. In the next and last part we will animate the spiral.
